Making This Project a Reality

Our group has concluded that based on relatively high processing and material costs, that the AlOx Food Storage Solution such as the one presented in this report may not be the most appropriate solution for this project.

While the technical performance of the film shows promise, the future team should evaluate other medium to high barrier packaging materials. Potential materials include glass, aluminum, steel etc. These materials would create a high-barrier and more durable solution than the one presented in this report. From a technical perspective, the team also encourages future groups to explore further packaging testing solutions with any prototypes.

Additional tests would include the measurement of moisture / atmospheric influx during the opening / closing of the container. Such calculations would factor in packaging head-space, ambient temperature and humidity, as well as the performance of desiccant pouches in wicking moisture.

Additionally, a future team should evaluate whether or not the food storage solution could be produced locally (using local raw or recycled materials, labor forces etc.)
